Privacy Policy

Your logbook

Crewlog stores your logbook, profile, roster, libraries, settings and recovery snapshots on your device. It has no Crewlog account system, advertising or analytics SDK. Crewlog does not operate a server that receives your logbook. Information you enter may include your name, licence details, pay settings and information about other crew members.

iCloud and your devices

When you enable iCloud Sync, your logbook entries and profile are sent to your private CloudKit database in your Apple account. Sync also includes modification and deletion records and your device name. Flight-tracking API keys are excluded. Turning sync off stops future syncing; it does not delete the existing iCloud copy. Selected flight, roster, weather and crew-rest information is shared with your paired Apple Watch and widgets. Apple provides the cloud, device connection and map services under its privacy terms.

Location

With your permission, location finds nearby airports. When you arm automatic flight detection on Apple Watch, location continues in the background to detect flight movement and suggest departure and arrival times. You can stop detection on the watch and revoke location access in system Settings. Weather and gate requests use airport coordinates or station codes; the watch detection service does not upload its GPS stream to a tracking provider.

Camera and calendar

The camera scans ACARS displays to fill in flight details. Image recognition runs on your device. Calendar access reads the calendars you select to import flight events and check for changes; Crewlog does not edit those events. Imported flight information becomes part of your logbook and may sync to iCloud if you enable sync.

Microphone and speech

When you choose dictation, microphone audio is used to fill a search field. Recognition runs on your device when the selected language and device support it. Otherwise, Apple's Speech service may process audio remotely under Apple's privacy terms. Crewlog does not save the microphone recording. You can type instead and revoke microphone or speech access in system Settings.

Online lookups

Online features send the information needed for the lookup directly to their providers. AviationWeather.gov receives weather station codes and, for historical weather, a date. Open-Meteo receives airport coordinates for forecasts. For flight status, gates and aircraft positions, Crewlog’s flight-data service receives flight numbers with dates and aircraft registrations, together with a random install identifier used only to limit request rates; it forwards the lookup to AeroDataBox and keeps answers briefly so other pilots asking the same question are served from its cache. It does not store which install asked. If you supply an API key, FlightAware or AeroDataBox receives that key and the requested flight details directly. ADSBDB receives aircraft registrations. OpenStreetMap's Overpass service receives airport-area coordinates for gates. Google receives airline codes when remote airline logos are loaded. These providers receive connection information such as your IP address and may retain request logs under their own privacy policies. Crewlog does not send them your complete logbook, crew names or profile. Provider requests may also occur during background refresh for enabled features.

Alarms and notifications

Crewlog schedules flight reminders and crew-rest alerts on your device with your permission. Notifications, widgets and Live Activities can show flight information on your lock screen or watch. You control their visibility and permissions in system Settings.

Keys, exports and support

Optional flight-tracking API keys are stored in this device's Keychain. Clear them in Live Tracking settings to remove them. Exported files contain the information you choose to export; the destination or person you share them with controls their copies. If you email support, the developer receives the message, your email address and any attachments you choose to send. Avoid including private logbook or crew information unless needed for your request.

Retention and deletion

Local records remain until you edit or remove them or delete the app. Delete All Entries removes the active logbook entries; it does not remove your profile, libraries or recovery snapshots. Recovery snapshots remain until automatically pruned or the app is deleted. With iCloud Sync enabled, entry deletions sync to your other devices; deletion markers can remain for up to 180 days to reconcile offline devices. To remove the cloud copy, turn off syncing on your devices and remove Crewlog's data from your Apple account's iCloud storage settings. Delete exported backups separately and remove optional API keys before uninstalling; Keychain items may survive app deletion. Apple device backups and copies on other devices have their own retention controls.

Children and policy changes

Crewlog is a professional pilot logbook and is not directed at children. The date above changes when this policy is updated. Contact support@crewlogapp.com with privacy questions or requests about information you have sent to support.

Website

Visiting this website sends ordinary connection information, including your IP address, to the hosting provider. Pages, scripts and images are served from crewlogapp.com through Cloudflare, whose Web Analytics script counts page views without cookies. In browsers that don’t include Apple’s New York typeface, the home page loads a stand-in font from Google Fonts, which receives the request needed to deliver it. This privacy page uses local system fonts and loads nothing from anyone else.
